Design and step
A flat shoe with a sharp toe, 1.5 cm of heel and a 0.5 cm slope: half a centimetre, the thickness of a coin, between where the heel lands and where the toes do. The TPU sole has a straight edge and a minimal step at the back, so flexing always happens up front and always at the same point on the instep, which is where the leather ends up marking. On floorboards or tiles the step sounds dry, with no bounce. The buckled strap crosses above the fringes and is what keeps the foot in place.

Materials and construction
Inside, 100% microfibre lining throughout the upper: a smooth surface, no bulky seams at the heel, and a feel that doesn't pack down with daily wear. The insole is removable, so you can take it out to air it or swap in your own if you use an orthotic; in midwinter, a thin wool insole fits without stealing height over the instep. The interior is chrome free. Construction is cemented, with the TPU sole bonded to the shiny nappa upper. 

Size guide
Comfort last: broad through the forefoot despite the sharp toe, which lengthens the vamp rather than adding real room for the toes. Shiny nappa gives very little in length, so take the size you wear in a dress shoe; the play comes from the buckled strap, with enough travel for a thick wool sock or for closing over a low instep. Sizes 36 to 42, with the removable insole as your margin if you need to gain or lose a few millimetres.
