Who is YORK 1373 in Cuero for?
For anyone who prefers grey to black because it feels less absolute and sits more easily with dark clothes that aren't quite black. It works with a padded parka and wide trousers, with a boiler suit, with a short puffer and a thick sock showing over the instep. The side buckle and the strap across the instep give it the classic Mary Jane outline, but built on 5 cm of platform and block heel: it changes your height without changing your posture. You won't notice the difference on a short walk; you will notice it at the end of a day with a lot of stairs. Move Me works in the Softlight sole: deep grooves cut into the block let the toes push off while the sole follows that movement instead of passing the effort up to the ankle. The foot completes its full travel, lands, rolls and lifts, and the platform bends with it. With wear, the flex zone marks itself faintly on the sole: that is where the shoe has learnt to bend.

Materials and construction
The black cleated block measures 5 cm with a 1.5 cm difference between heel and toe, so the height is spread out and the foot barely tips forward. It is Softlight, an ultralight sole material, which is why a shoe with this much volume weighs so little in the hand. The 360º Stitched construction leaves a visible seam right around the perimeter, just above the sole, underlining the outline of the grey Horasan upper. Inside, 100% microfibre lining and a removable insole, with a Chrome Free interior finish. The instep strap has several holes and a silver metal buckle that stands out against the grey.
